The art of ferret hunting is when the ferret is introduced into the rabbit burrow. Usually at least two ferrets are used at the one time and the idea is that the ferrets will flush the rabbits out of there burrow where you will be waiting to catch the rabbit by shooting it, with a dog or a net waiting at the burrows exit.

So basically in a nut shell a healthy ferret means a better hunting ferret.
Legality
Also please don't forget to check if ferret hunting is legal in your state or country. In the UK hunting for ferrets is totally legal however is some states in the US it is not and can carry a fairly expensive fine. If it is legal make sure that you have a land owners permit where you are deciding to hunt.
